 Issue Category : Access Error (1) |  | You do not have the necessary permissions. | Typical causes are:
Attempt to download a site where read permission has been removed.
Attempt to upload or change a file or list item, user does not have at least Contribute permissions.
| Contact site administrators to ensure you have sufficient permissions. | Sync Issue - Access Error |  Issue Category : Conflict (1) |  | The item has been modified both locally and on the server. | Changes have been made to the document locally and on the server. Contributor cannot decide which version to keep and generates this issue. | Conflict errors are resolved in the Resolve Synchronization Conflict Dialog. Open the Resolve Synchronization Conflict dialog by double-clicking on the issue in Sync Issues panel of Contributor. The user is able to review the server and local versions and select which item to keep. Microsoft Word documents can be merged using the compare and merge wizard. The wizard is started by clicking the Merge button at the bottom the Resolve Synchronization Conflict dialog. | Sync Issue - Conflict |  Issue Category : Duplicate File/Folder (1) |  | A file or folder with the same name already exists. | Typically caused by one SharePoint user uploading a document, then another SharePoint user uploading the same document before the first document is synchronized to their Contributor cache. | Rename or delete the conflicting file. There are 3 options for this: 1) Rename: Double-click on the issue in the Sync Issues panel. Click the Rename Item button and enter a new name. 2) Rename: Navigate to to document library, right-click on the item and select Rename 3) Delete: Navigate to document library, right-click on the item and select Delete | Sync Issue - Duplicate File or Folder Name |  Issue Category : File Blocked (1) |  | Files with this extension are blocked from being uploaded to this SharePoint site. You can delete or rename the file, or contact your site administrator to enable files with this extension. | By default, several standard file extensions are blocked, including any file extensions that are treated as executable files by Windows Explorer. Files with curly braces { or } are also blocked automatically. The file extensions blocked by default are:
ade, adp, app, bas, bat, chm, class, cmd, com, cpl, crt, dll, exe, fxp, hlp, hta, ins, isp, jse, lnk, mda, mdb, mde, mdt, mdw, mdz, msc, msi, msp, mst, ops, pcd, pif, prf, prg, reg, scf, scr, sct, shb, shs, url, vb, vbe, vbs, wsc, wsf, wsh | Delete the file from contributor. | |  Issue Category : File In Use (1) |  | A file system error occurred. Please close any documents that are open and try the synchronization again. | Changes have been made to a document on the server and the document is open in an application on the local machine. | Close the document or any applications that have the document open. | |  Issue Category : File Locked (1) |  | The file on the server is checked out or locked for editing. | | Either: Request the user who has the document checked-out to cancel the check-out. Request the user who has the document checked-out to check-in the document. A conflict sync issue will then result, which will need to be resolved. Save the document as a new item in the library and then discard the local changes to the existing item. | |  Issue Category : File Removed From Server (1) |  | A file which had been modified locally was not found on the server. A copy of your local version has been placed on your desktop. | This issue will only occur once. The local version is backed up to the desktop. On the next synchronization the file has been removed from the Contributor cache so the issue no longer exists. | None needed. The item can be added to the server by drag-and-drop from the desktop. | |  Issue Category : Network/Server Error (3) |  | An unknown error occurred while trying to perform the operation. Please check your network connection and try again. | Communication with the SharePoint web services are blocked by a web proxy.
*Sync Errors are issues not in any other category and normally require investigation of the log file. | Review the log file. for details. Ensure the web proxy allows communiction with the SharePoint web services. Contributor can be configured to bypass the proxy. Details of this configuration can be found in the Administration section of the Features list on the Support site. | |  | An unknown error occurred while trying to perform the operation. Please check your network connection and try again. | Authentication Failure. The SharePoint site may be configured to use an alternate authentication mechanism. Examples: Forms-based; Client certificate; RSA SecurID. *Sync Errors are issues not in any other category and normally require investigation of the log file.
| Currently, Contributor only supports SharePoint sites configured with one of the following authentication mechanisms: 1. Basic Authentication 2. Digest Authentication 3. NTLM (Integrated Windows) Authentication 4. Kerberos Authentication | |  | An unknown error occurred while trying to perform the operation. | Try again on a faster connection or limit the size of the files being synchronized. | |  Issue Category : Server Not Reachable (1) |  | Server Not Reachable | Contributor is not able to connect the the SharePoint Server. Typically this is a low-level error indicating a generic network issue, for example, a network cable being unplugged. May also be caused by a proxy blocking the network connection although proxy-blocking often results in an issue of type "Sync Issue". | Ensure the network connection is valid. Browse to the SharePoint site in Internet Explorer. | |  Issue Category : Site ID Mismatch (1) |  | Site ID Mismatch | A site was found at the URL specified in the Contributor cache, however the site ID is different from the ID of the cached site. | Delete the site from Contributor and download the site again. | |  Issue Category : Site Not Found (1) |  | Site Not Found | Contributor was able to connect to a web server. However, a SharePoint site with the specified URL was not found on this server. | Ensure the site exists and that the user has at least read permissions. | |
