How do I resolve a file locked error?

Message: The file on the server is checked out or locked for editing.

Resolution:

  • Request the user who has the document checked out to cancel the check out, OR
  • Request the user who has the document checked out to check-in the document.  This creates a conflict sync issue, which you will need to resolve, OR
  • Save the document as a new item in the library and then discard the local changes to the existing item.
