Why Is Email Manager For Outlook Not Working?

This article applies to the following:

8.x Email Manager for Outlook
7.x Engage for Outlook

Issue: The following issues can occur if Email Manager for Outlook is not loaded correctly in Outlook:

  • Colligo Engage folder is not created when Outlook launches
  • Items dragged to the folders are not detected (no metadata prompt and no synchronization of the items initiated)
  • Error message when trying to connect a SharePoint document library to Outlook

Resolution:

In order to resolve the issues, ensure Outlook has been correctly restarted after installing Email Manager for Outlook. If the issue persists, investigate the following possible options.

1. Enabling Email Manager for Outlook

The add-in may be disabled in Outlook. To re-enable the add-in:

Outlook 2007

  1. Navigate to Tools > Trust Center > Add-ins.
  2. In the Manage section, choose COM Add-ins from the drop-down menu, and click Go.
  3. Check the Colligo Engage App box.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Restart Outlook.

Outlook 2010 or 2013

  1. Navigate to File > Options > Add-ins.
  2. In the Manage section, choose COM Add-ins from the drop-down menu, and click Go.
  3. Check the Colligo Engage box.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Restart Outlook.

2. Verifying Loadbehavior Value of Email Manager for Outlook

  1. Open your registry editor by navigating to Start > Run and enter regedit.
  2. In the registry, navigate to the following location:
    • V6.x or V7.x
      • 32-bit OS/32-bit Outlook with a 64-bit OS: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Colligo.EmailManager
      • 64-bit OS: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Colligo.EmailManager
      • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Colligo.EmailManager
    • V8.x
      • 32-bit OS/32-bit Outlook with a 64-bit OS: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Engage.OutlookAddIn
      • 64-bit OS: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Engage.OutlookAddIn
      • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Engage.OutlookAddIn
  3. Ensure that the Value Data field for the LoadBehavior String Value is set to 3. If another value is present, change it to 3.
  4. Restart Outlook.

3. Ensuring VSTO is Installed

  1. Navigate to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs or Control Panel > Programs> Programs and Features
  2. Check if Visual Studio for Office 2010 (VSTO 2010) is installed.
  3. If not, close Outlook.
  4. Download and install VSTO from the following link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2525428
  5. Restart Outlook.
  6. Enable Email Manager for Outlook.
  7. Restart Outlook.
