Why is FAST search not working?

If your FAST search is not working, check the log file.

Search for the following items in the file:

  • Response code: 500 (Internal Server Error)
  • Method GetSearchMetadata failed. (exception on next line) System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[System.ServiceModel.ExceptionDetail]

If these items are present, add the App Pool account for the FAST Search Center application to the FAST Search Administrators group on the FAST server.
