Why is my locally cached SharePoint content not indexed in Windows search?

This article applies to:
7.x
Briefcase for Windows, Email Manager for Outlook
6.x
Briefcase for Windows, Contributor Pro, Email Manager for Outlook

Issue: Microsoft Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8 all include an integrated search engine that allows for the indexing of local files. However, the default settings do not include the sub-folders of %localappdata% in the search index. The default installation settings of Colligo Contributor caches the SharePoint files locally in subfolders of this location.

Resolution:

To include locally cached SharePoint content in the search index:

  1. Go to %systemdrive%\Users\%username%\Appdata\Local\ColligoOfflineClient.
  2. Right click the Storage5 folder.
  3. Go to Properties > General Tab > Advanced.
  4. Check the Index this folder for faster searching box.
  5. Click Apply.

Depending on your system configuration, locally cached files will display in your search results after a short period of time.

It is also possible to apply indexing to the AppData folder and sub-folders. However, we do not recommend this due to the number of undesirable files that can be included in the index.

You can also change the default storage location of Colligo to a location already indexed by Windows (e.g: My Documents). It is possible to change the storage location from the menu View > Options in the Colligo interface.
