Why are my SharePoint tasks disabled when Email Manager for Outlook is installed?

This article applies to the following:
7.x Email Manager for Outlook
6.x Email Manager for Outlook

Issue: Installing Email Manager for Outlook disables the SharePoint Tasks dialog.

Resolution:

Email Manager for Outlook uses the installed version of IE and uses that to emulate IE9 within Outlook. Unfortunately, emulating IE9 results in the SharePoint Tasks dialog becoming disabled in Outlook, therefore, it is necessary to emulate a previous version of IE to re-enable the SharePoint Tasks dialog.

Here's how we alter the browser emulation version (ensure Outlook is fully closed):

  1. In the Registry, under HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Colligo > Contributor > Email Manager, create a new String called "OutlookWebBrowserEmulationMode" and assign it a value of "0"
For more information about this setting, click
This will ensure Email Manager for Outlook reads the emulation setting from this registry key.
  2. In the Registry, under HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft >Internet Explorer > Main > FeatureControl > FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION, delete the "OUTLOOK.EXE" string key.
This will prevent the outlook emulation from defaulting to IE9, as this key will be recreated with the Email Manager defined value when Outlook loads.
  3. In the Registry, under HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Colligo > Contributor > Email Manager, edit the String key called "OutlookWebBrowserEmulationMode" and assign it a decimal value of "7000"
    Note: 7000 will emulate IE7, 8000 will emulate IE8, 10000 will emulate IE10, 11000 will emulate IE11
This will load this value into the Outlook registry key that is created upon load.
